The Vibe
This is what the Gianyar falls felt like before the vans found them. A community-restored two-waterfall circuit in the green corridor north of Tegallalang, with a fraction of the visitors and a fee that goes straight to the village. The first fall hits hard, all power and spray; the trail then winds through beautiful jungle to the larger second fall. At 7am the whole gorge is quiet and misty, and the soundtrack is water and birds rather than queue chatter.
The Shot
Both falls earn frames. The first is the power shot: get inside the spray field with a wiped lens and a fast wipe routine. The second, larger fall is the composition: jungle frame, slow shutter, nobody in your foreground, because the value of Manuaba is exactly that nobody is standing there. The early mist gives the whole gorge an atmosphere the midday circuit never sees. Early morning is the move: cooler trail, fewer people and the best chance of jungle light filtering through the canopy.
Where to shoot+
Look for the moss-covered cliff, shallow pool and quiet jungle frames rather than a giant dramatic drop. Nearby rice-field texture can round out the set.

Light kit, grip footwear and a dry bag. Avoid leaving too late; published visitor info notes there is no artificial lighting on the trail.

Seventh, and the highest-value quiet hour in the Ubud waterfall scene. It won't out-muscle the top five, but it restores the thing the famous falls have lost, and it keeps tourist money in a village that maintains its own paths.

I stayed at Equipoise Resort, which is literally across the road from the entrance, and joined their guided walk at 7am. That timing is everything: the gorge was still quiet and misty and we had it to ourselves. There are two falls on the circuit, the first one powerful with a lot of spray, then a beautiful jungle walk to the larger one, and both shoot really well. You will get wet, the thigh-high water crossing is unavoidable, so reef-style shoes are the sensible call. I did it in thongs, because I'm Australian.
