This section is for the lived-in version of Bali. The shortlist pages are practical. The Bali Now briefings are timely. The Bali Blog is where I can write more personally about the places I stay, the roads I keep taking, the cafés I return to, and the little details that help someone understand the island before they arrive.
I have been travelling to Bali since 2001 and living here full-time since 2023, based in Ubud with my family. A lot of my Bali life is spent moving between regions, waterfalls, beaches, cafés and family-friendly places. That gives me a different view of Bali to someone flying in for a week and trying to decode the island from Google Maps.
What I will write here
I will use this space for personal Bali ramblings, photography notes, places I have stayed, roads worth avoiding, cafés worth returning to, and experience-based observations that do not need to become a full paid guide page.
Some posts will be practical. Some will be more reflective. The point is to keep adding useful Bali knowledge from the ground, written by the person actually standing behind the site.
Why it matters for the guide
Travel advice is better when you know who is giving it. If I recommend a base, a route, a waterfall window, or a place to stay, I want you to understand the context behind that call. I am not trying to build another anonymous travel blog. This is my Bali Shortlist.
